What is Transaction quality trilemma?
We already knew about the blockchain trilemma i.e. a blockchain needs to have a tradeoff between security, scalability, and decentralization (can’t have all three).
Ex- Bitcoin and Ethereum choose decentralization and security and are working on improving scalability ( layer 2 for Ethereum).
There is another Trilemma that is not much in discussion — Transaction quality trilemma.
It is about Spam mitigation, censorship resistance, and low fees. A blockchain again can have either of two features. Ex- Solana chooses low fees and censorship resistance — which causes a lot of spam bloat — thereafter, crashed the entire network ( DDOS attack).
If the transaction fee is high then the quality of the transaction will also be high — no one will spam the network with spam messages. So, achieved censorship resistance and spam mitigation with high fees.
